Our Programs
Making a Difference for Cordovans, Visitors, and Fisherman

Nelson Bay Hatchery Initiative
The Future Looks Bright
Long has Cordova needed a locally based Private Non-Profit hatchery program. Now with the ongoing extension of the Shepard point road, coupled with advances in Modern Aquaculture technology, the time is right to establish a modern hatchery facility at humpback creek to support the local sport, subsistence, and commercial fisheries.
Crab Stock Revitalization
Bring back the Biomass
Utilizing Mariculture Grant opportunities to grow and release juvenile crab, helping to restore our historical tanner crab, red king crab, and Dungeness crab populations.
Eyak Lake and Delta Salmon Restoration
Egg Boxes where it matters
Eyak Lake sockeye habitat restoration through combating lake weeds and elodea infestations, it is also our goal to get permitting and implementation of coho and sockeye egg boxes in Eyak lake and the Delta.

Cordova Fisheries Development Association is dedicated to providing Mentorship and Educational Opportunities to combat the greying of the fleet and help the next generation of Cordovans be successful in our diverse Fisheries.
New Fishery Development
Pioneering Industry for future generations
Cordova Fisheries Development Association is a leader in the sector and works diligently with the Department and Board of Fisheries to open, develop, and expand on fishery opportunities. Become a part of a brighter future for Cordova and join our efforts today.
Research and Community Outreach
We all can benefit
Supporting research and Community outreach initiatives through common sense and pro fisheries approaches that focus on getting our community back to work. A healthy community starts with a healthy, active, and engaged waterfront.

Clam Replanting
Restore the Clam Capital
It is our desire to spur interest and investment to utilize new mariculture grant opportunities to grow and re-seed local mudflats with juvenile clams, Cordova used to be the clam capital of the world, we want to see that restored.
Economic Development
Making Change Possible
Promoting and encouraging expansion of the local tourism industry through a robust chinook and coho program, while simultaneously alleviating the sport pressure on the Delta wild stocks will greatly benefit local subsistence users as well as industry. The hotels, bars, breweries, restaurants, grocery stores, charter operators, and local fishermen will all benefit.
Abalone and Geoduck Enhancement
Empowering Others
The recent mariculture bill has legalized farming and enhancement of these high value shellfish species. Our goal is to synergies with the up and coming kelp farming industry as kelp is the main food source for abalone. Enhancing these species will provide opportunity for local mariculture farmers and wild havesters alike.
